A MAN stole eight pairs of sliders from a shoe shop in Oldham, then tried to steal from the Halfords down the road three months later, a court has heard.

Lewis McDermott, 21, of no fixed abode, appeared at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of theft and one count of burglary between July and October.

On July 9, McDermott stole four pairs of sliders to the value of £115 from Wynsors World of Shoes in Oldham.

Then on July 10, he returned to the same shoe shop and stole another four pairs of sliders to the value of £60.

And on October 1, the day before he appeared in court, McDermott trespassed at Halfords with intent to steal.

The magistrates sentenced him to 16 weeks in prison, plus a fine totalling £128.
