A 25-YEAR-OLD man who played a role in importing drugs into the country from Belgium has been jailed.
Connor Jackson-Westwood, of Bamford Street, Royton, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to evade the prohibition on the importation of cocaine and the same charge for diamorphine.
He also admitted to being in possession of a prohibited weapon, a stun gun.
On Thursday, Jackson-Westwood was sentenced at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court to 15 years.
Following the sentencing, Border Force regional director, Ian Hanson, said the case should act as a warning to others who attempt to arrange drugs to be shipped in from overseas.
He said: “This case sends a strong message to anyone who attempts to traffic drugs into the UK – you will be caught.
“With this seizure we have helped remove a large amount of dangerous drugs from the streets, making a huge dent in the profits of smugglers.
“Drugs devastate lives, ruin families and damage communities.
"Border Force officers work day and night to stop drugs entering the country.”
