A SHOP worker was threatened with a knife in a terrifying robbery in Heywood.

Police were called to Middleton Road yesterday morning, Saturday, at around 7.10am to a report of an armed robbery at a Premier convenience store.

During the incident a man entered the store and threatened an employee with a knife before demanding money from the till.

He then fled the store with money and tobacco.

He is believed to have fled in the direction of Manchester Road towards Heywood town centre.

No-one was injured.

The man is described as approximately 20-years-old, white, around 5"5 in height and of slim build.

He was also wearing light grey jogging bottoms, a navy blue hooded top and white baseball cap.

It is also believed before the robbery he had been in the Charles Street area, close to the Black Swan pub.
