A YouTube channel has ranked Oldham amongst the 10 worst places to live in England in a video posted online, describing it as "another not so good town in the North".

In the video, the Canadian narrator places Oldham, which he mispronounces, as the ninth worst place to live in the country, pointing to its lack of a "single tower" and mentioning how it was once named Britain's most deprived town by the Office of National Statistics.

The video has reached nearly 60,000 views and was produced by Learning Canteen, a channel that claims to post "interesting and informative videos on travel, education, business and lifestyle".

In the video, the narrator says: "You certainly won't have a hard time agreeing that this is one of the worst places even in the UK."

He goes on to say that according to a local resident, the town looked as if "the government had been performing nuclear testing in the area".

In the introduction, the narrator says that his ranking is a personal opinion based off of his own research and input from people he knows who have first hand experiences of the places, essentially admitting he has never visited the places he mentions.

Learning Canteen ranks Peterborough as England's worst town to live in, with Hartlepool coming second and Rochdale, which he pronounces as Rockdale, placing third.

Some on social media let it be known they weren't impressed with Oldham's inclusion on the list. One commenter on Facebook, Stephen Smythe, said: "You all need to get out more Oldham is beautiful compared to some of the places I have visited in the UK."
