A MAN with a kitchen knife who interfered with a police car in centre of Manchester has avoided a prison sentence.

Faizan Bashir, 25, of Barlow Street, Oldham, was sentenced at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on Friday, October 15.

Back in July, Bashir interfered with a marked BMW X5 belonging to the police. He was in possession of a kitchen knife at the time.

Bashir admitted to both offences on Friday, September 10.

On Friday, October 15, magistrates gave him a 16-week prison sentence, but suspended it for 12 months.

Bashir was also ordered to pay costs totalling £313, including a fine, court costs and a victim surcharge.
