OLDHAM has the eighth highest car tax evasion rates in the UK, latest figures reveal.

New research has uncovered the UK postcodes with the highest car tax evasion rates per 1000 residents with Oldham coming in eighth.

In 2020 there were 18.92 fines for untaxed vehicles given out per 1,000 residents in the OL postcode. The total value of unpaid car tax in the borough is £1,313,700.

The research by the insurance company Veygo analysed Freedom of Information data to reveal the number of enforcement actions for untaxed vehicles in 2020, the overall value of unpaid tax, enforcement actions per 1000 residents and the value of unpaid tax per person.

Worcester is the UK’s car tax-dodging capital with the most enforcement actions per head of anywhere in the country. In 2020 there were 27.90 fines given out per 1,000 residents in the WR postcode.The total value of unpaid tax in the city is £1,202,850.

Luton came in second with LU postcodes receiving 22.06 fines for having untaxed vehicles per 1,000 residents and Romford took bronze with 21.02 fines per 1,000 people.
