A FUNDRAISER that was launched for the family of a "beautiful" and "caring" mum-of-six who was tragically killed in Chadderton last week has raised more than £20,000.

Tamby Dowling, 36, suffered serious stab injuries on Water Mill Avenue on Monday, November 8.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, she died at the scene.

A 16-year-old girl was also injured and taken to hospital with superficial injuries.

A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act, Greater Manchester Police confirmed last week.

The GoFundMe page set up to support Tamby’s family has so far received more than 1,000 donations and raised £20,877.

The page reads: “Tamby always put her children first, and we want to raise funds to ensure her children are taken care of, as well as any funeral costs.”

In a tribute released by police last week, Tamby’s parents, Mary Dowling and Keith Hawley, stepfather Graham Marsh, and stepmother Diane Pleavin, described her as a “very good mother, brilliant daughter, and friend to everyone who knew her”.

They said: “She was outgoing, kind-hearted, generous, and had time for everyone. Her door was always open, her home was filled with visitors, and her kettle was always just boiled.

“She leaves behind six devastated children who she adored. She leaves behind her devastated brothers, sisters, mother, father, stepdad, and stepmum.

"She had a large family, who are all heartbroken.

“Tamby will leave a huge hole and massive impact on all the family.

"She touched the lives of countless people - the hole she has left will never be filled and our hearts are broken.”

A book of condolence for Tamby on our website has been inundated with emotional tributes too.

Tamby’s sister Stacey, wrote: “All I keep asking is why? Why my sister?

"Tamby had a heart of gold and would help anyone no matter what.

“Don’t get me wrong we didn’t always get along but what sisters do?

"Tamby’s life was her children and family now we all have to live without her.”

Messages of condolence have also flooded social media and several bouquets of flowers have been left at the scene of the tragedy.
