AN OLDHAM hospice is selling its gin at a discounted price this Black Friday in a bid to raise vital funds for patient care.

Dr Kershaw’s Hospice launched its 1989 gin, crafted by Defiance Gin Distillery in Lees, last month. The gin, which is named after the year the hospice was established, has been knocked down from £35 to £29.99 for a week-long Black Friday event.

Grace Carr, the hospice’s digital marketing and events executive said: “We only launched the gin last month and have been overwhelmed by the community’s response with people choosing it as the gift of choice for their friends and family this Christmas. We also thought it would be a nice addition to our newly launched ‘Gin & Jammies’ event, as those taking part have the option to purchase a bottle of the hospice’s gin to further support Dr Kershaw’s and our patients.”

Defiance owner, Paul Sheerin added: “From a very personal point my father benefitted from hospice services 10 years ago, which is something I will never forget. The gin we have crafted for Dr Kershaw’s is a thoroughbred London Dry Gin with a modern twist. Distilled in small batches of 50 bottles it has signature botanicals of orange, lemon, pink peppercorn and liquorice root.”

To order a bottle of gin at the discounted price call the Hospice’s Fundraising Team on 0161 624 9984 from 9am – 4pm. The offer ends on Friday.
