A Shaw pub is launching an enormous English breakfast fry up challenge off the back of it's 100oz steak challenge.

The Black Ladd pub, on Buckstones Road, began it's Super Six Belly Buster challenge on Wednesday, which sees six of each traditional English breakfast food on the menu.

The announcement of the challenge has received a lot of reaction on social media as customers consider attempting the massive plate of food.

The pub's general manager Keiran Leach said: "After we did the steak challenge, we looked at what to do next.

"We tried to think of something not seen or heard of around here."

Those taking on the challenge will have to conquer six of each item, which include sausages, pieces of bacon, fried eggs, hash browns, black pudding and tomatoes, along with three pieces of toast, three pieces of fried bread, some mushrooms and baked beans. People attempting the meal can replace items they don't like.

Mr Leach and the pub's landlord, Paul Mahon, have both tried out the fry up, but were unable to complete it.

Mr Leach said: "I'd say we both had a very good effort.

"Paul ate a bit more than me, all I left was the tomatoes, black pudding and toast."

The announcement on Facebook led to many readers leaving amusing comments.

One reader wrote: "I would eat this on my way to breakfast."

Another wrote: "Impossible, not a chance in 30 minutes."

One person enquired if they could swap the meal for a bowl of Coco Pops.

The meal needs to be completed in 30 minutes, with those who manage to accomplish this getting the food free of charge. Those who fail will have to pay £29.95.

The challenge is available from Monday to Friday each week but customers will have to book the challenge in advance so it can be prepared for.

The time slots to compete are at 12pm, 2pm, 4pm and 6pm.
