EACH week, we try to put the spotlight on a local watering hole in our popular Pub of the Week feature.
For most pubs the past couple of years have been difficult during the pandemic but in May last years things got even worse for staff at the Hope and Anchor in Doffcocker.
But now, we have spoken to Andrea Lockley about how they are rising above it and are excited about the future.

Give us some history about the pub:
It is an old traditional pub serving four different casks ales as well as Carlsberg, Stella, San Miguel, Carlsberg export, Strongbow Dark fruits, Tetley Mild, Tetley Smooth and Guinness. There is also a good selection of malt whisky and flavoured rums. We are dog friendly and are right next to Doffcocker Lodge. People come in here and always are greeted with a friendly face and can have a good chat with anyone. They all leave as friends and all return.
Is food served? If so what’s on the menu?
No food served
Is there a beer garden?
We have a newly refurbished beer garden. Our beer garden was extended with decking a large sheltered area with lots of seating and heaters.
Do you have any darts/snooker/pool teams?
Pool table and a ladies darts team
Most popular drink served is:
Cask ales, four different ones - Our casks are Timothy Taylor’s, Wainwright’s, Tetley Cask and a guest. This week is Lancaster Blonde.
Most memorable moment at the pub:
Opening up after lockdown as we flooded the day before.

It has been hard due to the Covid pandemic but getting better
