ANGELA Rayner answered criticism on Friday after she was seen maskless at a school in Failsworth.

The MP posted on social media at around 11.40am after a trip to Spring Brook Upper School on Dean Street to speak to children in the school council.

But followers took no time to call attention to the fact neither she nor the children were wearing masks.

One tweeted: "No masks?"

And another tweeted: "Why no mask? Not a good look @AngelaRayner, you need to set an example."

Within an hour, at around 12.40pm, Ms Rayner posted on social media again to answer the criticism.

The MP said: "For those who are asking, and have every right to, I was asked to remove my mask to aid communication with the SEND [special educational needs and disability] students.

"I LFT [lateral flow test] very regularly, especially before meeting my constituents, and remain negative for Covid.

"Let's keep each other safe."
