A new mental health support system has been launched in Oldham as the council looks to tackle the issue.

Togetherall is an online mental health community for shared experiences and mutual support which Oldhamers can now access.

The service provides anonymous and safe online support and has a range of wellbeing tools and resources to help people understand how and why the are struggling.

It is available free of charge and 24/7 for all residents aged 16 and over who are trying to improve their mental health.

Cllr Zahid Chauhan, Oldham Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care, said: "I’m proud that we’ve partnered with Togetherall to provide much needed support for Oldham residents.

"It’s been an undeniably tough time during the Covid pandemic which has put a strain on many people’s mental health.

"That’s why Oldham Council has paid for all of our residents to access this support service completely free of charge."

The service is designed to allow people to receive immediate help whenever they need it, with no waiting times of hidden costs.

Cllr Chauhan said: "In Oldham, we’re aiming to lead the way on mental health and wellbeing support for residents and I’m glad we’re taking another step towards that goal."
