SCHOOL pupils in Middleton have been given a lesson in stopping crime by those on the frontline.

Police officers visited Parkfield Primary School on Harold Street on Thursday to talk to Year 6 students about preventing crime.

As well as teaching them important information, the youngsters had plenty of fun after they saw their headmaster being put in handcuffs during a demonstration.

Pictures of the visit were shared on social media.

A police spokesman said: "This morning (Thursday) Middleton neighbourhood officers attended Parkfield Primary School to speak to Year 6 about crime prevention.

"PC Main who is the newest (and youngest) member of the team got to brush up on her handcuffing skills by demonstrating to the kids how to use them, by handcuffing our very own PCSO Clough.

"The kids also really enjoyed the school headmaster Mr Kemp being “arrested” and handcuffed too.

"Thanks to the staff and Year 6 for their participation and enthusiasm."
