PUPILS at Willowpark Primary Academy have taken part in this year’s Great Big School Clean campaign.

Children at the school in Derker have been litter picking to ensure the local wildlife has a safe habitat and to keep the area tidy.

Mrs Symes-Thompson, the school’s eco coordinator, has run the scheme along with members of the school's eco committee.

The campaign is part of the Great British Spring Clean which is back for its seventh year and running from March 25 to April 10.

If every child who attended school in the UK pledged to pick up just one bag of litter during the Great Big School Clean 10.3 million bags of litter would be removed, according to the campaign's website.
