TikTok star Seb Lowe, 18, from Delph, is set to make his debut on the Left Field Stage at Glastonbury this June.

Inspired by Led Zeppelin, Seb’s music, which became popular on social media site TikTok, tackles political issues and social problems – such as classism and inequality.

The native Oldhamer attended Oldham Sixth Form and has released a new mini-album this week.

With over 250,000 followers on TikTok, Seb was among the first artists on the platform to join their SoundOn music distribution platform.

Before his music career took off, the musician had been planning to attend Birmingham University to study English and History.

Seb told us: “I’ve just finished Oldham Sixth Form and I was meant to be going to Birmingham Uni to do English and History – but I haven’t actually told them yet that I’m not going.”

Seb first started getting into music at age 13, saying: “I was sat in the car with my dad, who’s a big kind of music-head – he’s got a serious collection of CDs and he was playing me Led Zeppelin.

“He played Bring it on Home and Stairway to Heaven, which, somehow, I’d never heard before.

“When I heard it for the first time, I was completely blown away, and I must have listened to that song every single day thereafter for months.

“It was like a morning routine for me.”

After Seb started with songwriting, dad Jonathan encouraged him to try guitar.

Singing followed when Seb attended Oldham Theatre Workshop: “I went there for two years, and I can credit those guys with getting me into singing,”

“I started out getting into singing with those guys and then I started pairing the words to the guitar and writing much more musical songs.”

Now he’s amassed a large following, Seb has a number of shows planned – with the first on Saturday, May 7 at Gorilla in Manchester.

This will be followed by appearances in Brighton and Warrington, before Seb finally takes the stage at Glastonbury in June.

“I’ve never been myself, but it’s Glastonbury isn’t it?”, Seb said.

“It’s always been described in conversation as ‘that is the thing’ – which is crazy, that I’m going there.

“It’s this really unique thing that we have in the UK. It’s got this real kind of history – this classic kind of traditional festival and it’s huge.”

Seb’s new mini-album, The Other Half, is out now.
