A FORMER Oldham doctor has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of a patient who died at Royal Oldham Hospital.
Isyaka Mamman, of Cumberland Drive, Royton, pleaded guilty to the offence at Manchester Crown Court this morning (May 20).
The 78-year-old was charged with manslaughter following the death of Shahida Praveen, who died at the age of 48 following a medical procedure in 2018.
Due to the circumstances of the procedure, the matter was referred to police for further investigation and Mamman was then charged in November 2021.
The charge was authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service's (CPS) Special Crime Division, one of the CPS Central Casework Divisions that deals with some of the most complex and sensitive cases in the country.
He will be sentenced in early July and has been given unconditional bail until then.
