A convoy of more than 200 bikers made a slow, respectful journey through Saddleworth villages as a touching tribute to one of their leading members.

Michael 'Mikey' Theyer, of The Road Wizards motorcycle club based at Wizards Hollow, Wharf Mill, Diggle, died suddenly, aged 39.

As the club’s vice chairman, he travelled to the club several times each week from his home at New Mills.

Paying tribute, club chairman, known as Ozzy, said: “Mikey was a popular, well thought of member of the club where he had been a member more than five years and held an officers position for most of that time.

“The club was his second home and enjoyed beers in the club with his brothers, loved live music, rallies and ride outs."

He added: “Mikey was taken suddenly at the young age.

"After a tough start in life he  turned his life round and was a loyal, trustworthy, hard working man who would do anything for anyone.”

Mikey left Wizards Hollow on a special trike hearse for his last ride last week accompanied by all his brothers and sister from Road Wizards, his sisters Jade and Val,  family and friends.

The specially designed hearse was escorted by more than 200 bikers to Oldham crematorium and " signed off" by the mourners.

Ozzy said: "The mourners returned to Wizards Hollow to raise a glass to a brilliant man and fellow biker.

"And the Road Wizards would like to thank Pogson and Armitage, funeral directors of Diggle, especially Dave, for going above and beyond to make the day special.”
