The first properties of a 200-home development in Cowlishaw are now on the market.

Homebuilders Redrow Homes' 25-acre Bishop Meadows site off Cocker Mill Lane is welcoming offers for several of its properties from today, Saturday.

Houses within the development, which includes five acres of green space and an orchard, will overlook a neighbouring golf course.

The development is launching "off plan" today meaning only the plans are available to view with show homes expected to open in February next year.

The houses available for sale today are priced from £459,995 to £589,995.

Redrow sales director for Lancashire, Sian Pitt, has warned potential buyers that the development is likely to prove “very popular”.

She said: “Located close to amenities and set within picturesque open green space, we know this is going to be a very popular development.

“Our sales team will be on hand to talk to potential purchasers at Bishops Meadow during our launch weekend, with full details of the homes available, the development and the surrounding area.”

Properties available today include The Chester, with prices starting from £459,995 and The Hampstead, with prices starting from £588,995.

The Chester has an open plan kitchen/diner, a utility and family area that spreads across the back of the property, plus a separate lounge, cloakroom, and garage.

Upstairs there are four double bedrooms, an ensuite to the main bedroom and a family bathroom.

Within The Hampstead two of the five double bedrooms have their own ensuite, and there is also a family bathroom on the first floor.

All the houses within the development will be detached with private gardens and driveways and many will also have solar panels installed.

The first homes are due to be ready for occupation in either March or April next year with the development expected to be completed in five years’ time.

Discussing the development in May last year, Claire Jarvis, managing director for Redrow Lancashire, said the homes will “meet the changing priorities of home buyers post lockdown”.

She added: “Our plan for Cowlishaw is for the creation of a sustainable and thriving new community that will leave a legacy for future generations.

“Designed around one of our key placemaking principles of ‘providing nature for people’, the development will include diverse habitats for local wildlife, as well as footpath access through neighbouring fields and woodlands so residents can take advantage of the landscape on their doorstep”.
