Plans for a new apartment to replace an ice cream parlour have been approved.

The building, based at 1-3 Ladhill Lane in Greenfield, is a two-storey structure, with Troisi's ice cream based on the ground floor while the remainder of the building is residential.

Now, the building's ground floor unit is set to become residential as well.

The apartment will have one bedroom, along with a lounge area, kitchen, two bathrooms and a study.

The plans call for minimal alterations to the building itself, but a flat-roofed outbuilding will be installed at the south of the building next to a bin storage area.

The apartments are close to central Greenfield and approximately 60 metres from the junction with Chew Valley Road, where the King William IV pub is based.

The planning statement adds it is close to shops and schools, along with Greenfield train station and bus services which run along Chew Valley Road.

The application was submitted on behalf of Mr and Mrs Troisi, who own the unit.

In the planning statement, it is stated that due to the council being "unable to demonstrate an adequate supply of housing land", the conversion of the unit into an apartment "will make a small but valuable contribution to the local housing stock".

It adds that future occupants will be provided with a "quality living environment".

The proposed development is not set to affect any of the existing access arrangements to the building.

The application was submitted in early January, with amended plans proposed in late April before its approval was announced on June 9.
