ALL of these cases involving people from Oldham have been before the magistrates in the last fortnight.

A woman has been made to pay over £1,000 for arriving into England without a coronavirus testing package.

Anusa Majaru, of Windsor Road, Oldham, arrived at Stansted Airport on March 7, 2021, and failed to present a coronavirus test.

At the time, people arriving into the UK from abroad had to prove they had taken a test before their departure.

Majaru, 43, pleaded not guilty on February 14 but at Tameside Magistrates' Court on June 28, she was found guilty in her absence.

She has been fined £1,100, made to pay a victim surcharge of £110 and court costs of £90.

An Oldham man has been sentenced for a series of crimes, including stealing lead from a roof.

On March 24, Mathew McNeil, equipped with a high visibility jacket, chisel and screw driver, stole lead from a roof to the value of approximately £3,200 from a different address in Oldham.

McNeil, of Rock Street, was charged with theft, going equipped for theft and obstructing a constable in the execution of duty, all of which he pleaded guilty to on March 28.

At Tameside Magistrates' Court on June 28, the 37-year-old was sentenced.

He was handed a community order, which will see him observe an electronically monitored curfew between 9pm and 8am for four months.

Along with the community order, he was ordered to pay compensation of £1,000, a victim surcharge of £95 and court costs of £85.

A man has been given a football banning order as part of his sentence for using threatening or abusive words to cause a woman alarm or distress.

On April 28, at Old Trafford in Manchester, Kevin Rooney used the threatening behaviour towards his victim.

Rooney, of Wastwater Street, Derker, pleaded guilty to the offence on May 26 and was sentenced at Tameside Magistrates' Court on June 23.

The 42-year-old was given a three-year football banning order, prohibiting him from attending any football matches in the UK during that time.

He was also given a community order, requiring him to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work over the next year.

Along with the two orders, he was made to pay £100 in compensation, a £95 victim surcharge and £85 in court costs.

Manchester United played Chelsea at Old Trafford on the evening of April 28.
