A woman was rescued after falling down a steep banking in Oldham while walking on a footpath.

The fall, which happened on Sunday night near Holts, led to the woman aggravating an existing back problem and left her unable walk out. 

An 18-strong team from Oldham Mountain Rescue Team (OMRT) received a request from North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust asking for assistance. 

With an ambulance crew on scene administering medical aid and pain relief, the team put the casualty in their vacuum mattress and stretcher.

Utilising a back up rope, thry carried the patient up banking to the road and the waiting ambulance.

The road where the incident happened and the time were not reported.

OMRT leader Rob Tortoishell added: “We wish the casualty all the best for a speedy recovery.”

The team were involved wit the incident for an hour and 35 minutes.
