Police are looking to speak to a man in relation to an incident in Oldham which caused significant damage to a police car.

On Tuesday, June 28 at around 12.20pm, a stolen Ford Transit was seen 'acting suspiciously' on Park Road using false plates.

The van was pursued by the Greater Manchester Police (GMP) Transport Unit along Wellington Street.

It was there that a police car received significant damage after it was rammed.

The vehicle has remained off the road since the incident.

Following enquiries, GMP are now in a position to appeal to the public for information to help identify a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

Police Sergeant Michael Mooney of GMP’s Transport Unit said, “It’s important we find out who has caused the damage to what is an important vehicle in the fleet to help fight crime on our roads.

“Thankfully officers didn’t receive injuries at the time, but it doesn’t take away the severity of the incident and why we would like the help of the public to assist us in our investigation.”

Anyone who has information is urged to contact police as soon as possible on 101 quoting incident 51 of 28/06/2022 or alternatively direct by calling 0161 856 1855 or emailing transportunit@gmp.police.uk.

Details can also be passed via the LiveChat function at www.gmp.police.uk or through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
