A health alert has been issued across the country, with people warned to expect an increased risk of fire and drought.
The amber warning for extreme heat, issued by the Met Office, is warning people in large parts of England and Wales to expect adverse health effects, including sunburn and heat exhaustion, as well as other heat-related illnesses.
At the time of writing, the warning is in place from Thursday, August 11 to Sunday, August 14.
The Met Office is advising people that changes to working practices and daily routines are likely to be required, with an increased chance that some heat-sensitive systems and equipment may fail.
Delays to road, rail, and air travel are also listed as potential consequences of the heat, as well as an increased risk of fire from people visiting beauty spots.
Three weeks ago, on Tuesday, July 19, a disposable barbecue caused a wildfire to tear through Saddleworth moor.
Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service has issued a warning, telling people to never have a barbecue or start a fire on moorlands – and has warned of the increased risk of fire rubbish such as glass bottles and cigarettes can pose.
🚒 A huge number of firefighters and resources are needed to control a wildfire. They can also cause a lot of damage and disruption.

While much of Greater Manchester, Sheffield, and Leeds, are included in the warning, eastern parts of the city-region, including Oldham, have narrowly avoided inclusion.
As it stands, the Met Office forecasts temperatures will reach 27C on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Lows range between 16C and 17C, with high UV levels forecast each day – making the use of sunscreen a must when venturing outside during daylight hours.
Long term effects of UV overexposure can include skin cancer and premature ageing.
Temperatures in Oldham will cool somewhat to a high of 24C on Monday, August 15.
