Despite recent low water levels, user soliloquy_terminal agreed – putting Dovestone as their favourite, adding: “Dovestones, Hollingworth Lake or that view on the M62, when you're coming downhill and suddenly Rochdale and Manchester beyond comes into view. It always gives me a thrill.”

Daisy Nook

In third was Failsworth’s Daisy Nook Country Park. User beef5570 said “Grew up near it in the ‘70s. Went all the time as a kid.”

User Smol9 asked the important question: “Yeah but do you pronounce it daisy nUCK or daisy nOOk?”

User lynzleberry said “My bed” was their favourite place – though it’s unclear if this is in Oldham.

Crompton Moor

Redditor groovycallum said that Saddleworth and Crompton Moor were their favourite spot – adding: “Lush walks and great views. Real hidden gem, not even half the amount of people you see walking along the Mersey on a sunny Saturday afternoon (Okay Dovestone gets hella busy, but there are other places!)”

Redditor Cheadleblue21 said Stockport Market was their favourite, explaining: “I love the cobbled streets, traditional pubs, food, the new bars opening up and the general indie feeling.

“I think the town gets a bad reputation because of the Mersey shopping centre, which is very run down and never needed in my opinion.”

User TheGreatBoar said: “Castlefield canal where you see the difference between the old redbrick and beetham tower is absolutely gorgeous IMO.”
