Police have released three CCTV pictures after a masked man was  seen walking around a living room in Chadderton with a knife.

In the early hours of Monday, August 8, the knifeman, dressed all in black with gloves and a balaclava, was caught on home camera footage wandering around a family’s living room at their home on Stirling Road.

Ashleigh Jones, 33, from Royton, was horrified after learning about the terrifying incident from her mother, Adelle, 56, and stepfather, Jay, 53, who was asleep in the living room at the time.

It is thought nothing was taken during the incident but the family were understandably left shocked.

Police are appealing for help from members of the public to help identify the man they wish to speak to in connection to this incident and another attempted aggravated burglary in Oldham.

The location and time of the latter incident have not been published by police.

Photographs posted online by Oldham police show a man wearing a black puffer jacket with his hood up and a balaclava covering his face inside a property.

A second image appears to show the man, wearing the same clothes, outside.

Initial enquiries suggest that the man gained access to the properties and walked through the houses, using a knife to 'promote fear'.

Detective Sergeant Matthew Adshead, of GMP’s Oldham district, said: “Thankfully, no one has been injured, but it is understandable that people in the community are worried for the security of their homes.

“Our investigation into this incident is ongoing and officers are appealing for anyone with information or CCTV footage that could help us with our inquiries.”
