A woman from Oldham who works as a solicitor at a local law firm has been recognised for her expertise in child care law and has been awarded a prestigious accreditation.

Pamela Walsh, a senior solicitor at Pearson’s Solicitors in their family and child care department, has been recognised for her hard work in this area of law and has been accredited by The Law Society.

With more than 20 years of experience in care, family and children law, Ms Walsh has progressed into an accredited specialist where she is primarily involved in care, children, family and matrimonial matters.

The solicitor is also a member of Child Concern, a Committee member of Oldham Law Association and a Mahdlo patron.

Ms Walsh has since become a member of The Law Society’s Children Law Accreditation scheme which lasts for a period of three years.

The accreditation scheme is a quality mark set by The Law Society for practitioners who represent children in law proceedings and is recognised by the Legal Aid Agency.

To become an accredited member, Ms Walsh had to meet a stringent set of criteria in order to quality.

This includes representing parties in proceedings involving children, a thorough awareness of ethical issues that can arise in children cases, the ability to work directly with children and up-to-date knowledge of the law, case law and practice developments.

The lawyer also had to complete a training course and submit a detailed application.

Ms Walsh said: “I am so thrilled to have been accredited and recognised for my experience in Children Law and it’s a real honour to be an accredited member of the scheme which helps professionals such as guardians choose from a panel of experienced practitioners to represent the needs of children.”

Director and Practice Manager, Joanne Ormston, said: “Pam joined our Child Care team back in 2018 as a Senior Solicitor and is highly regarded in her profession.

“She has a real empathy towards her clients backed by strong determination to get the right results."

“She is not one to rest on her laurels and in addition to her accreditations and memberships, applying to be a member of the Children Law panel was the next natural move for Pam.

“She is also our go-to person when junior members join the team to help supervise them and pass on her know-how as they develop their own careers and we are delighted that she has achieved the recognition she deserves.”
