A person has been taken to hospital after being freed from a car that crashed into the railings on Rochdale Road in Oldham.

At around 4.30pm yesterday (Tuesday) firefighters from the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service were called out to a crash on the road.

Two fire engines from Oldham and Hollins Fire Stations, along with a Technical Response Unit from Ashton, attended the scene where a car had crashed into the railings.

Firefighters freed one person from the car who suffered an injury and was taken to hospital.

Fire crews were at the scene for approximately one hour.

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “At around 4.30pm on Tuesday, September 27, firefighters were called out to a road traffic collision on Rochdale Road, Oldham.

“Two fire engines from Oldham and Hollins Fire Stations, along with a Technical Response Unit from Ashton-under-Lynne, attended the scene where a car had collided with railings.

“Firefighters extricated one casualty from the vehicle who was then handed to the care of North West Ambulance Service. Crews were at the scene for approximately one hour.”

A spokesperson from the NWAS said: “We were called at 4.11pm to a road traffic collision. The patient sustained an injury and was taken to the hospital.”
