A DPD van has smashed into scaffolding attached to the front of an Oldham home.

At around 5.46pm yesterday (September 28) police were called to a crash on Waterloo Street in Oldham.

Officers attended and initial enquiries suggested a van had crashed into some scaffolding attached to a house on the street.

Pictures and videos of the crash published on social media appear to show a DPD van rammed into a property on Waterloo Street leaving scaffolding hanging precariously off the wall.

Firefighters were called to the scene and a fire engine from Oldham Fire Station attended with crews remaining at the incident for around two hours to make sure the scaffolding was safe.

The scaffolding was secured by the fire service and no injuries reported or arrests made.

In a statement a spokesperson from GMP said: “At 5.46pm yesterday (Wednesday, September 28) police were called to a report of a one-vehicle collision on Waterloo Street, Oldham.

“Officers attended and initial enquiries suggest that a van had collided into some scaffolding on the street. No injuries were reported, and no arrests have been made.

“The scaffolding was secured by the fire service.”

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “At around 6pm on Wednesday 28 September, firefighters were called out to a road traffic collision on Waterloo Street, Oldham.

“A fire engine from Oldham Fire Station attended the scene where a car had collided with scaffolding attached to a house. Crews remained on the scene for around two hours, helping to make sure the scaffolding was safe.”
