An care service has received a "good" rating after its first inspection by the healthcare watchdog.

The Care Quality Commission, which is tasked with inspecting care homes, in-home care services, GPs, and hospitals, rated Rose Healthcare Services, registered on Mona Road in Chadderton, as "good" in all areas.

This means the service, which provides care to people living in their own homes, was found to be safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led.

Those interviewed said staff at the care home were well trained, polite, and helped them keep their independence with personalised care.

The report, published on Wednesday, was based on an inspection which took place in September.

Inspectors found that people using the service were support “to have maximum choice and control of their lives", with staff said to support users "in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests".

Users of the service and their families said they felt involved in making decisions about their own care.

One user of the service said staff appeared to be "well trained".

Inspectors verified that carers used PPE while delivering care, and a care user said they felt safe when the staff were with them.

Medical record-keeping was seen to have been completed accurately during the inspection.

As part of their role, staff help service users get to the doctors or dentist, as well as supporting them to eat and drink a balanced diet.

Inspectors said the service was caring, treating people with compassion, kindness, dignity, and respect.

One person told inspectors: “The staff are very respectful towards me. I am able to do some things by myself and the staff let me do that, but sometimes I need help.”

A relative added that staff “are good and very polite".

Individual care plans, with copies stored at both users’ homes and in the office, were said to be detailed, with information about religious and cultural requirements, and things of importance to people that staff needed to be aware of.

Leadership at the service was praised, with inspectors finding evidence of a positive culture at the service and continuous learning – with team meetings held to survey staff and obtain their views.

One member of staff said: “Everything is going fine here, and it is a good place to work.”

Another said: “Leadership is good and I don’t have any complaints.”
