An Oldham Athletic fans' podcast is now an award-winning podcast after a North West football ceremony.

The Armstrong Projects Northwest Football Awards 2022 were held at The Point at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester on Monday, November 7 where people, projects and campaigns were all celebrated.

And among the winners was a fan-run podcast on the Latics.

The Boundary Park Alert System! was announced as the winner of the Fan Media, Channel or Podcast of the Season at the star-studded event.

Matt Dean, one of the main people behind the podcast, said that the team involved in it were "really proud and happy" to have picked up the award.

The podcast was put together during Oldham's previous ownership regime under Abdallah Lemsagam, who sold the club earlier this year.

Mr Dean said: "We were just football fans who didn't know each other when we started in 2020, but because we love our club and couldn't watch it die, we came together to cover the story.

"It made us very unpopular with the previous board but that was on them, not us - fans deserve the truth and we did our best to deliver that in as engaging a way as possible - which wasn't always easy.

"A lot has changed since we started, the club is in much better hands and we have an excellent relationship with them, so hopefully after covering the club's fall from the EFL, the next two years of the pod will see us cover the rise of Latics instead."

Other winners on the night included Manchester City's manager Pep Guardiola and midfielder Kevin de Bruyne, Everton player Anthony Gordon and the England Women's victorious Euro 2022 side.
