Staff members who work behind the scenes at Royal Oldham Hospital have been praised in a shout-out online for their hard work and declared 'Christmas heroes'.

Janet and Jonathan, who work on the laundry team at Royal Oldham Hospital, have had a special mention by the Oldham Care Organisation - the local branch of the Northern Care Alliance - for working hard over the festive season.

The pair will be processing more than 170,000 pieces of linen for the Northern Care Alliance throughout Christmas and the holiday period.

A photograph of the duo shows them wearing Christmas jumpers and festive attire while being busy folding and sorting fresh linen for the benefit of the NCA.

In a post on social media, the Oldham Care Organisation said: "Thank you Janet and Jonathan and all the team for your hard work.

"Christmas heroes.

"Team Oldham."

The praise comes after a new £10 million community diagnostics centre in Oldham officially opened its doors to patients this December, of which the Northern Care Alliance is just one of its several partners.

The Oldham Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) located in Salmon Fields, Royton opened on Monday (December 19) with a view to tackle waiting lists and Covid backlogs by helping more than 30,000 patients a year.
