A popular music venue in Oldham that has been operating for more than a decade has announced it will host its biggest gig yet with two renowned rock musicians.

Whittles at Tokyo on Roscoe Street hosts regular live music in its iconic venue, the former Tokyo Project nightclub, including tribute acts, local up-and-coming bands and even legends.

But the venue has announced it will be hosting "probably the biggest gig in Oldham in years" as it opens its doors to international rockstars, Brandon Gibbs and Joel Hoekstra, for a "must-see" show this coming April.

Describing the pair as "two of the best in the business", Gibbs is not only well-known as the frontman for Devil City Angels but joined Poison last year on their Def Leppard, Motley Crue and Joan Jett Stadium Tour where he performed as a backup vocalist.

Gibbs is also famous for his blues and rock-style guitar playing and songwriting.

Meanwhile, Joel Hoekstra is most known as the lead guitarist in the bands Whitesnake and Trans Siberian Orchestra as well as being an original member of Broadway's Rock of Ages Band.

Hoekstra has performed alongside many other bands throughout his career, such as Foreigner and Night Ranger, while projects he's worked on include Cher.

The duo are set to perform a powerhouse acoustic set across the UK and Ireland throughout 2023 but the only Manchester-based date booked is in Oldham's Whittles on Friday, April 21.

Hoekstra and Gibbs promise to bring a "high-energy show" with "blazing" guitar riffs, storytelling, vocal harmonies and a selection of songs from bands they have been a part of as well as original and rock covers.

Tickets for the show start from £22 and can be purchased directly from SeeTickets here: https://www.seetickets.com/event/whittles-oldham/whittles/2497829?fbclid=IwAR1F-CN_v5Nptn2JqDAJI9ZJw_-tzvoA7kEnWJlb8QmNsosSZKTHYEX9WkU
