Driver leads police on chase 'from Rochdale to Huddersfield'

A police chase involving a helicopter took place between Rochdale and Huddersfield.

Police say they came across a Volkswagen Golf which failed to stop.

The roads policing unit had approached the vehicle.

The driver then led police on a chase which finished up in Yorkshire.

Police say the motorist abandoned he vehicle in Huddersfield after the West Yorkshire Police Roads Police Unit and the National Police Air Service North West came to the asisstance of the officers involved in the chase.

Officers say the driver was later detained.

A police spokeperson said what happened at the end of the incident.

They said: "The disqualified driver has been remanded and vehicle seized."
