Oldham Coliseum has announced one final special performance before the curtain closes at the theatre next week.

The Fairbottom Street theatre will shut on March 31 following the loss of Arts Council England funding.

In a statement last week the theatre company confirmed the closure date following a consultation with staff.

It said the loss of the funding, which accounted for a third of its income, had made the financial situation "not sustainable" going forward.

Now the Coliseum has revealed a final 'Encore' show will take place on Friday at 7.30pm, posting:  "If we’re going out, we’re doing it our way.

"Spend one last night with us as we celebrate all things Coliseum with script-in-hand performances of scenes and songs from your favourite productions of the past decade, comedy, pantomime, and appearances from some very special guests.

"The Coliseum’s team of expert theatre professionals have crafted this one-night-only event in just two short weeks giving you – our audience – a final opportunity to embrace the Coli and everything it means to Oldham, Greater Manchester and beyond."

It added the full line up is still to be announced but that tickets go on sale today at midday on the Oldham Coliseum website.
