A new tapas restaurant in Royton has amended its menu and lowered its prices after customers complained about its 'complicated' rules.

La Salsa, formerly the Istanbul Grill restaurant on Heyside in Royton, announced in January that it had changed its Turkish menu to make way for 'all you can eat' tapas.

But despite offering more than 40 authentic Spanish dishes, customers were less than impressed by what they called the restaurant's "strict" rules.

The menu stipulated eight "terms and conditions" which included a ban on sharing dishes with non-paying guests and children, a restriction on prawn dishes to three per person and an enforced break period between each round.

Customers initially said they were confused and even put off visiting the restaurant as one said she found the menu to have "more rules than Brexit negotiations".

When The Oldham Times reviewed the restaurant, our reporter said he was "immediately confronted" by the lengthy rules and found it a "strange way to start any dining experience".

He also found the rule around sharing to be "pretty bold" for a tapas restaurant and said the three-dish limit and enforced delay period felt "miserly when portion sizes are so small".

But this week, La Salsa revealed it has created a brand new and much simpler menu - with the rules critically left off.

As of Thursday, guests will now only pay £14.95 to dine at the restaurant during the week.

While the weekend and evening price is still in place, Friday night guests can dine for a lower fee of £18.95.

However, Saturday diners will pay the current £20.95 set price.

While it remains unclear if the rules are still in place in the restaurant, La Salsa's menu has abandoned them with a friendly introduction instead.

The menu now reads: "Our menu introduces you to a traditional Spanish Mediterranean food experience with a wide range of flavours that will excite your tastebuds.

"Tapas is a Spanish custom, eaten and accompanied with a tantalising refreshment.

"These small, tasty bites are the perfect size so you can choose a variety of these dishes to create a delicious meal that all the family can enjoy."

When revealing the menu change, the restaurant said in a post online: "You have spoken and we have listened."
