A man who has previously lived at two East Lancashire addresses has been named by the government for deliberately defaulting on his tax bill.

In the newly published list, which is updated every three months, Blackburn courier, Mohammed Kamran Suleman was named among those who have been fined for not paying tax.

HMRC publishes details of deliberate tax defaulters, who are people that have received penalties for deliberate errors in their tax returns of deliberately failing to comply with their tax obligations.

Information is published if the person has been charged one or more penalties for deliberate defaults, and if those penalties involve tax of more than £25,000.

The Government body says it is necessary to publish the details of those that do this in order to act as a deterrent on those flouting the rules.

Mr Suleman, a courier who lived on Alexandra Road, Blackburn and Preston New Road, Blackburn, defaulted on his taxes between April 6, 2016, and April 5, 2020.

He failed to pay £89,264.10 in tax, and has been handed a penalty of £42,177.27.

It is believed Mr Suleman was director of a company called Efesarah Worldwide Commodity Distribution, which sold confectionary. However the company has since dissolved and is no longer trading.

The HMRC’s list is updated every three months and the information is completely wiped after a year.

The information is listed on the government website.
