A popular award-winning cafe and bistro in Saddleworth has announced a change in time for summer.

Weaver & Wilde, situated in the heart of Uppermill on High Street, has shot up the ranks as one of the North West's best independent coffee houses - with the awards to prove it.

The owners also run a grocery in Greenfield where residents and businesses can get their hands on fresh fruit and vegetables while the coffee house also stocks sustainable and ethically-sourced produce from other like-minded local businesses.

The bistro has several impressive awards under its belt since it launched in November 2019, including the Travellers' Choice Award and two Northern Enterprise Awards, and has more recently been nominated for the 2023 Bar and Restaurants Awards for "best coffee house and indy retailer".

It was also crowned the "best coffee house and retailer in the North West 2022" in recognition of its new grocery shop which opened in June last year.

But the coffee house has announced that there is "change afoot" with plans to move just a few doors down, to number 42, where the shop, All Wrapped Up, used to operate.

The shop closed in February this year and now Weaver & Wilde hope to relocate into the building to "start the next chapter for the coffee house" as well as "give no.42 a new chapter in its life".

The coffee house has put up signs in its windows, notifying customers that "we are on the move".

In a post on social media, the coffee house explained: "We love our little shop and after three and a half years, we are starting to outgrow it in its current form.

"It has been a long few years, opening just before a pandemic.

"Our thanks, as always to our customers old and new and we look forward to sharing this next step in our journey with you all."

Sidney & Sapphire, which sells premium dog accessories, toys and treats, as well as Inner Space Records, Saddleworth's only record shop, are still currently trading on the upper floor of the building while the ground floor is being prepared for the coffee house.

However, the plans are to take on the full building with high hopes to be all settled in by the end of summer this year.

"The new place should have all the charm and step us up to the next level", Weaver & Wilde added.
