A community group which works hard to keep its green spaces clear of litter and as a thriving hub for wildlife has planned an exciting community event for the King's coronation.

Friends Of Sholver Millennium Green work all year round, clearing litter, planting trees and hedgerows to combat climate change - and transforming the green into a home for wildlife.

The group is associated with Sholved Millenium Green Trust, a registered charity supported by Life for a Life Memorial Forests and the local housing association, First Choice Homes Oldham.

Over the bank holiday, on Monday, May 8, the group said it is inviting members of the public to take part in its "treebilation" event where it will be planting 100 trees to commemorate King Charles III and Camilla for the coronation.

The free event will take place between 11am and 1pm at the Green on Longfellow Crescent.

Attendees can expect a jam-packed afternoon of food, fun, guided walks, bird box building and more.

Those who plant a tree can also attach their name to the tree they have planted.

After the event, photographs of the festivities and the information will be sent in a presentation to Buckingham Palace.

The group ran a similar, successful event for the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee last year.
