The Tories have plunged Oldhamers into a cost-of-living crisis where mortgage rates, food prices and fuel costs are going through the roof.

The cost-of-living is hitting everybody, the Conservatives’ mismanagement of the economy means that households across Oldham are paying £3,480 or more per year on their household bills

Under this Tory Government, the price of goods and services rose at the fastest rate in four decades last year & inflation is currently running at 10.1%.

The Oldham Times:

Add to this the increased waiting lists for GP and hospital appointments, the lack of police on our streets, and a failing government that staggers from crisis to crisis, with no plan to make your lives better.

The Tories on Oldham Council are no better, they voted:

  • AGAINST lower energy bills
  • AGAINST lower childcare bills
  • AGAINST properly funded public services
  • AGAINST free pest control
  • AGAINST extra support with the cost-of-living

Labour is on your side; we won’t stand back while the Conservatives destroy the hopes of future generations. Labour has a plan to cut household costs, reduce waiting lists and take tough action on crime.

The Oldham Times:

Labour’s supporting young People, investing in Oldham & supporting Oldhamers through the cost-of-living crisis.

Across Oldham we’re investing in young people to provide them with opportunities to thrive, supporting good schools, improving our parks & green spaces, alongside safeguarding our most vulnerable children from those who want to do them harm.

Labour has invested £3m to combat the Tory cost-of-living crisis. Our We Can Help programme has seen:

  • £500,000 put back into Oldhamers pockets
  • £130,000 worth of fuel vouchers given out
  • Over 20,000 residents supported
  • 28 warm hubs established.

And we have an ambitious plan to revitalise Oldham, making improvements to our high streets and neighbourhoods, whilst creating jobs and homes for Oldhamers.

We’re building a new home for Tommyfield Market, a new theatre, and a new event space. We’re protecting and restoring our heritage buildings. And we are enhancing our parks and green spaces by building a brand-new town centre Jubilee Park and creating the country’s biggest urban park at Northern Roots

In addition, we are investing £1m in Boundary Park to secure the future of Rugby and Football in Oldham and open up the pitch to the community and grassroots clubs. We’re investing in our town centres and our neighbourhoods - with your help we can build a better Oldham

Labour will always stand up for Oldham residents, businesses and essential services who fought so hard through the pandemic, and who now under the Tories face the biggest fall in living standards and highest tax burden in 70 years. We will continue to offer support, and to work together for fairer & thriving communities.

REMEMBER A VOTE FOR ANYONE OTHER THAN LABOUR OR NOT VOTING AT ALL WILL LET THE CONSERVATIVES WREAK HAVOC ON OLDHAM LIKE THEY HAVE DONE NATIONALLY.

Vote Labour Thursday May 4th.
