An independent fashion boutique in Saddleworth has put closing rumours to rest having announced it is on the move.

Luan Matthews, situated in the heart of Uppermill at number 59, High Street, has announced in a post online that is due to relocate.

The shop itself is run by a mother and daughter who, between them, have more than three decades of experience in the fashion industry.

The duo even have an online shop, called My Style Monkey, where they sell a range of branded women's clothes from boutique and independent sellers.

Now, however, the shop is on the move into much bigger premises - though it said it will be "just a short walk away" after fears mounted it would be closing down.

On social media, Luan Matthews said: "We would like to put all our lovely customers' minds at rest.

"We are not going from Uppermill - just moving to a bigger premises, still in Uppermill."

Just a few doors down, the boutique will now be operating at number 109 on High Street, just beyond the Indian restaurant, The Shalimar.

Loyal customers have been quick to celebrate the "exciting" news while others were relieved to hear it will remain open.

"Glad to hear you are just moving and not shutting down, which is what I heard", one comment read.

Another added: "I hope your new shop works well. I certainly will be walking a few more steps to the new shop."

While another wrote: "Fantastic news. This is my favourite shop."
