An Oldham girl known for her fundraising challenges has scaled Snowdon for the second time and raised thousands of pounds in the process.

Hannah Miah, 11, completed the climb on Sunday, April 30, accompanied by her parents and some of their family friends.

The achievement is the latest in Hannah's fundraising efforts, which has seen her raise more than £8,000 during and since Ramadan for a campaign to help street children run by the charity Muslim Charity.

Hannah first scaled tallest mountain in Wales last year as part of her Ramadan charity effort, and according to her dad Jewel, this time was tougher.

He said: "At the start there was drizzle, but at the top it was windy and snowing, there was poor visibility.

"It felt more challenging than the first time, but Hannah was well ahead of us the whole time, she had no problems."

The original target set by Hannah was £7,000, but this has been smashed, and Jewel said he will leave the appeal open for a week or two more while some donations continue to come in.

Jewel, a civil servant and MBE recipient, said Hannah's efforts have raised the profile of the street children campaign and that friends and family of his have begun fundraising for the cause recently.

During Ramadan, Hannah completed a 50km walk, as she did last year, as part of her work to raise money and awareness.

Jewel said Hannah's sister did charity work of her own during Ramadan, raising hundreds of pounds by selling sweets.

Hannah's fundraising efforts have seen her receive a British Citizen Youth Award Medal of Honour, a British Muslim Awards Young Achiever honour and even get invited to a special lunch hosted by David and Victoria Beckham.

Looking ahead, Jewel said himself and Hannah do not yet know what the next challenge will be, but he said he is sure "some idea will come up".
