The autobiography which details the life story of Oldham hero, Kevin Sinfield, has hit the shops this month.

The former rugby league player turned rugby coach and fundraiser extraordinaire released his memoir called The Extra Mile on Thursday, (May 25).

The 320-page read details Sinfield's childhood growing up in Oldham, his successful rugby career and his fundraising efforts which have seen him raise millions for motor neurone disease (MND), the terminal illness that has affected his best friend and former teammate Rob Burrow.

The Leeds Rhinos star has completed a series of marathons over the years as part of his charity activism - and recently touched the hearts of the nation when he carried Rob over the finish line at the inaugural Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon after pushing him around the track in his wheelchair for 26.2 miles.

Sinfield has been presented with numerous awards and titles, including Honorary Freeman of the Borough, the highest award a council can give.

His autobiography is now out in the shops for £19.99 though some bargains are up for grabs in Waterstones, WHSmith and Amazon with the book currently being sold for £10.

To celebrate its release, Sinfield has been attending a number of book signing events in Leeds and has one coming up in Oldham this Wednesday (May 31).

The event, which is being presented by Waterstones Oldham, will begin at 7pm at Waterhead Rugby Club on Peach Road.
