A man and a woman have been charged after a pedestrian was left seriously injured in a car crash in Oldham.

At around 1.30am on Saturday (May 28) on Cobden Street, a car crash took place involving a pedestrian and an unknown vehicle.

A 31-year-old man was treated at the scene for serious injuries to his legs and was taken to hospital.

The injured man is now awaiting surgery and faces "many months" in recovery, according to police.

A 37-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man have both been charged in connection with the incident.

Nikky Howarth of Kingston Avenue, Chadderton, has been charged with section 18 - wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

Ben Grogan of Horsedge Street, Oldham, has also been charged the same offence.

Greater Manchester Police are now appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Scott Deakin of Oldham CID said: “I would like to send our best wishes to the victim and wish him a speedy recovery from his injuries sustained during this incident.

"This incident will have a detrimental impact on the victim and his family unit, the victim who went to hospital will need to endure a recovery period that could last many months."

The force said anyone with information, dash cam or CCTV footage should pass this on to GMP by contacting 0161 856 8999 quoting log number 293 of 28/05/2023.
