Crews have been spotted filming in Greenfield, Oldham which is set to feature in a new ITVX drama.

Residents have today (Thursday) reported that the Saddleworth village has been tranformed into a film set with crews seen shooting scenes on Manchester Road.

A letter sent to residents in the area on behalf of ITVX states that crews are filming the new detective drama Passenger on Manchester Road from 11am until 9pm today, with most of the filming centred on one house.

The letter, which has been shared on social media, adds that today is the last day of filming at the location and advises residents that a lane closure is in place.

Film trucks and vans were previously seen in Greenfield over two days in March.

Passenger has been described by ITV as a “six-part darkly comic horror” that sees the close-knit community of the small Northern village of Chadder Vale sent into a tailspin following a series of “strange and unnatural crimes”.

The series has been written by Andrew Buchan, best known for his acting roles in Broadchurch, The Honourable Woman and ABC Murders, and has been produced by Sister the creators of the shows This Is Going To Hurt, Chernobyl, Landscapers.

Commenting on the series, Andy Buchan said: “I’ve always loved shows where thee known collides with the unknown … where you see communities faced with something horrifying and inexplicable, where, as a viewer, you’ve nothing in your kit-bag to explain it.

“When I started writing the scripts, I wanted to create something epic and unknown but also bed it somewhere close to home. Having grown up in Lancashire it felt like the perfect place for it. We’ll definitely see the residents of Chadder Vale pushed to their limits.”

Supervising location manager, Danny Newton told The Oldham Times he could not “confirm or deny” that filming was taking place in Greenfield.
