Buses travelling through the Greenfield area of Saddleworth allegedly crashed and became stuck on a tight bend this morning, blocking the road for hours.

At approximately 7am today (June 15) witnesses say two buses attempted to squeeze through a tight bend at the same time on Shaw Hall Bank Road, near Greenfield station, when they crashed and became "stuck".

Passengers aboard the bus said they were forced to abandon their journey and described how the buses "scraped" past each other until they became "wedged".

Photographs of the scene show the First Buses were blocking the narrow road and were touching one another on the corner.

A passenger said the accident happened after the bus drivers waved one another through.

In a post on social media, First Bus said services 180 and 350 were diverted due to a "vehicle obstruction at Greenfield Station" early this morning.

The services were temporarily diverted via Chapel Road in Greenfield until the obstruction was cleared at approximately 10.20am.

First Bus has been approached for comment on the incident.
