An Oldham pub landlord has spoken of the ‘surreal’ moment he saw his pub in the new Disney+ series The Full Monty.

Airing on Disney+, the series, which is a sequel to the original hit film, will follow the original band of "brothers" as they navigate the post-industrial city of Sheffield and society’s crumbling healthcare, education, and employment sectors.

It was filmed partially in Royton’s The Greyhound pub and Chadderton’s Colliers Arms.

Now, Greyhound landlord Patrick Chetram has spoken out about the moment he saw his pub on screen.

The crew, which were using space in the pub grounds as a base to film elsewhere, asked if they could take pictures of other rooms upstairs to film other scenes.

Now, Patrick’s daughter’s bedroom features in the series as the bedroom of young character Tabani, as Destiny, Cal and dog Chelsea come to visit in episode one.

From the outside, the visitors appear to be in a room above a convenience store, but through the magic of video editing, the characters are transported straight in to The Greyhound pub.

Patrick, who is now hoping for a series two, said: “We know that that scene was filmed in our pub up the stairs in the bedroom because we saw them in the same attire and we know how they were made up.

“Everything you see in the room is a prop, they’ve painted the walls, they’ve done everything, new cupboards, they put in everything. We know how the room was set up but nobody else would ever know that. The impression in the actual series is that it’s somewhere in Sheffield.

“In the series it shows her coming out of a flat of some sort, and then when they go into the room that’s the scene that they filmed in our pub.”

He added: “It was kind of surreal to see it. We know it’s our room all made up to look something different.

“It was quite a few days of filming to see one minute on the screen – there’s a lot of work that goes into that one minute, that one scene.”

Another Oldham location which features in the series is the Colliers Arms in Chadderton. The pub’s interior and exterior can be seen in the series, with Dave and Gaz both seen in an exterior scene in episode two and an interior scene in episode three.

The pub has been celebrating its appearance on social media and in person. It started showing episodes of the series at the pub from Wednesday, June 14.
