The owner of a takeaway which only opened a few weeks ago said she has been left 'heartbroken' after the shop was broken into and damaged.

In a post shared by the I Love Shaw Facebook group, it was revealed The British Kitchen, situated on Market Street in Shaw, was broken into during the early hours of Monday (June 26).

Photographs of the premises show the door has been boarded up and a notice, wrapped in biohazard tape, encourages witnesses to contact Greater Manchester Police.

The blow comes as the business, which serves "teatime British classics", only opened three weeks ago on Wednesday, June 7.

Bosses of the small business have confirmed that the shop was broken into this week.

The owner, Vicky, said the shop has been left "ruined" and the offenders "caused so much damage", destroying the entrance and shutters.

The cafe was even forced to close due to the damage.

"It's broken my heart to say the least.

"I'm devastated.

"I'm truly grateful for the support I've had - the stress and the pain that went into this shop. It was my saviour this shop and it's come to this.

"It's my daughter's prom so I have to keep calm and carry on for today but thanks for all the help and love from local businesses.

"But the shop is still standing", Vicky added.
