A host of Oldham secondary schools have received new Ofsted ratings in recent months.

Ahead of children joining new secondary schools in September, we have listed how each school in the borough is rated by Ofsted and mapped the schools.

The education watchdog inspects state schools and independent schools as well as other education and social care settings and publishes the results publicly.

There are four possible ratings given following an Ofsted inspection the best being ‘outstanding’, followed by ‘good’, then ‘requires improvement’, and finally ‘inadequate’ which can lead to a school being placed in special measures.

To achieve an ‘outstanding’ rating, schools must receive an ‘outstanding’ grade for all the criteria listed in a report and have effective safeguarding.
