A resident in Royton has claimed to have caught a stranger stealing her post from her letterbox on camera.

At 7.04pm on Sunday (September 3), Lois McKay on Radcliffe Street claims a man "went out of his way" to take her letters.

Ms McKay alleges the man took her post as it was "sticking out" of her letterbox.

She shared the shocking doorbell footage on social media and said she thought it was "harmless" to begin with.

Ms McKay said she initially thought the post was intended for a neighbour, perhaps having been delivered there by mistake, or it was "just an innocent man collecting his post".

However, she said this was not the case and described him as "just a scruff, robbing people's post".

The footage shows a man approaching the front door of the home before he appears to take a letter or small parcel from the letterbox.

Clutching the post in his hands, he then turns back towards the garden path.

He can be seen walking down the path, though his hands and the post are no longer visible.

Ms McKay added: "Share his face and be aware of this if you see him or his car knocking around in your community."

The resident has been approached for comment and further details about the incident.
