Oldham East and Saddleworth MP Debbie Abrahams has announced she has made a short documentary highlighting the "unequal impact of the Covid pandemic".

Ms Abrahams released a teaser for the short documentary film, titled The Unequal Pandemic, on her social media on Friday (September 8), saying the film would be launched in Parliament today (Wednesday, September 13).

The documentary has been produced by Good Guys Films and will look to show "how inequalities affected families during the Covid pandemic".

Ms Abrahams said: "Tackling unfairness and inequality in Oldham & across society was the key driver for me to become your MP. It was why I set up the Oldham Fairness Commission and why I developed this film, The Unequal Pandemic.

"Here in Oldham we saw first-hand how unequal the impacts of the Covid pandemic were. But I was concerned that the public inquiry into the Covid-19 pandemic, and the UK’s response to this, wouldn’t adequately consider what and how the inequalities before the pandemic impacted on who and where was most affected by Covid-19.

"So I thought that a film like this would be an important medium to convey the evidence and experiences of people about the relationship between pre-pandemic inequalities and their impact on the Covid outcomes to the public and the Inquiry."

Based on the teaser Ms Abrahams shared, it appears the documentary speaks to a combination of experts and people who lost family members and loved ones during the pandemic.
